Questions on the Future
Question: What will we be doing during the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth?
Answer: This 1,000-year reign of Christ is mentioned in Revelation 20:4. It is a period of 1,000 years that begins at the conclusion of the Tribulation, when Christ returns to Jerusalem (Zechariah 14). Many changes will occur on the planet and to the people during this time.
1. Jerusalem will be the spiritual and political capital of the entire earth. Christ will rule as KING over the planet, and King DAVID will be the leader of the city of Jerusalem.
2. The SAINTS who had part in the first resurrection (these are the raptured saints and the dead saints who were resurrected) will be “kings, priests and rulers” over nations and people on the earth.
3. Satan and his demonic powers will be bound for 1,000 years. Those who survived the Tribulation, and did not receive the Mark of the Beast, will re-populate the planet. These will be the people the SAINTS will rule over.
4. There will be changes in the animal kingdom. The “lion will lie down beside the lamb,” and a child can play at a serpent’s den without fear.
Remember, this event occurs AFTER the Tribulation, during which millions will have been killed, and disease, famine and sorrow will have devastated the earth.
Question: Where is the “bottomless pit” actually located?
Answer: The Greek word for “bottomless pit” is abussos. It means a place that cannot be measured or fathomed. The demon spirits in Christ’s time were familiar with this place. The demon spirits coming out of the man of Gadara in Luke 8 “begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss” (v. 31).
The word “abyss” is the abussos. Isaiah predicted that Lucifer (Satan) would be brought down “to the sides of the pit” (Isaiah 14:15). This will literally occur at the return of Christ to the earth, when an angel comes down with a chain and a key to the bottomless pit . . . and casts Satan into it (Revelation 20:1-3).
Some Christian scientists believe that the “pit” is similar to the black holes recently discovered in outer space. The scripture says the angel came down from heaven to earth (Revelation 9:1). It goes on to say that a “smoke arose out of the pit” (Revelation 9:2). This “pit” is a chamber in the bowels of the earth. Where it is located, we are uncertain, but this is where Satan will be bound for 1,000 years.
Question: Will men who accept the Mark of the Beast be able to live during the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth?
Answer: Absolutely not. When Christ returns to rule on earth, the False Prophet and the Beast will be “cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone” (Revelation 19:20). John said that when Christ returned, “the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse (Christ)” (Revelation 19:21).
When the angels separate the wheat from the tares, it may imply the separation of those who have the Mark of the Beast from those who did not receive it (Matthew 13:24-43). Those who receive the Mark are doomed forever, and will NOT rule on earth with Christ.
Question: Will the Tribulation judgments be worldwide, and will every person take the Mark of the Beast?
Answer: This is a complicated question that needs several pages to fully explain it. Briefly, the judgments will AFFECT the entire world, although they will affect the Middle East and the old Roman Empire nations in a greater way, because this is the “seat of the Beast.”
It appears that a one-world economic system will be developed for the powerful industrial nations. In other words, America, Canada, EUROPE AND THE ORIENT must follow this system in order to “buy or sell” (Revelation 13:17). There may be many primitive tribes and people in the mountains of South America of the bush of Africa that will NOT take the Mark. They will suffer the pains of a revolting earth, but these will be the survivors of the Tribulation.
Question: Isn’t God sadistic for sending such trouble (tribulation) on His creation?
Answer: Is law enforcement “sadistic” for arresting a child molester or a rapist? Is it “sadistic” to give the death penalty to a man who murdered and chopped up 20 different people? Is it “sadistic” to shoot a man on a killing spree when he has already, in minutes, killed over 15 people?
Think of the outright SIN destroying the nations. Think of the perversion, the drugs and the evil on the planet. God said the Tribulation would “purge the earth of sinners” (see Isaiah 13:1-11).
If you please, the Tribulation is God’s way of “cleaning up man’s mess” that he has made of everything. God is good, but He is also righteous. Righteousness demands justice!
