The Curse of Madness: Attacks on the Children
Some of the most horrible attacks on children have been occurring recently throughout the United States. You have heard of men abducting young girls, molesting them and burying them alive or hiding them in a cave or pit. One madman recently shot several Amish children and then took his own life.
Has society gone mad? We read in the Old Testament that God established the blessing the curse of the Law. Blessing would follow obedience to God’s Word, and a curse, or disfavor, would follow the person who walked contrary to God’s commandments. Those who chose to wilfully disobey the commandments and principles of the Word could be cursed with madness.
The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of heart (Deuteronomy 28:28).
The Hebrew word for “madness” in this passage means to “rave with insanity.” It implies that a person would become a raving maniac, and people would look at them and consider them a “lunatic.”
Jesus encountered a man in Matthew 28 who was possessed by 2,000 demons. He was naked, lived in a graveyard and cut himself with stones. The gospel writer says he was “exceeding fierce” (Matthew 8:28). I heard Perry teach that the word “fierce” is chalepos in the original Greek, and is found in one other place in the Bible.
In 2 Timothy 3:1, Paul said that in the last days, perilous times would come. The word fierce in Matthew 8:28 and perilous in 2 Timothy 3:1 is the same word. Imagine the people in the last days being so “mad” they become as fierce as the man of Gadera, a naked, wild man who would not be tamed, chained or controlled.
The man in Matthew 8 was possessed by a legion of demon spirits. Today, I believe many of the people who are acting out such evil crimes are also controlled by wicked and unclean Satanic forces that drive them to things that are unthinkable and unimaginable to the normal human mind.
Perhaps we should not be surprised we are now reaping such a spirit of death and emptiness, when society has removed God from the public schools. They have told children they cannot pray in school, taught them they evolved from a monkey and that only the fittest will survive. They have told children that it is okay to abort a baby, even when it is near the time of its birth. They have basically taught that life is of no value, and if it feels good, do it. Don’t worry about the consequences.
As parents we must become bold and stand up against these things. We must tell our elected leaders we want our children to be given the freedom to pray, have bible classes and be taught the Creation account as options for our youth. Otherwise, those growing up in this society will have no respect for life, and we will see more crimes committed against children.
