Well, it didn't take long did it? I've been expected the first disagreements and hard feelings but what I wasn't expecting was how people are handling it.
Guys, there are going to be times when me or you get offended by what someone says and aren't going to like it. But how are we going to handle it? I see a couple choices that we can make.
1) We can get upset, stop posting, and/or stop our fellowship here.
2) We can stop visiting that particular thread and avoid the debate.
So what's it going to be? Where do you fit in this equation? I've already seen a couple of people stop posting because their feelings were hurt and felt I was unjust for not doing anything. You have to understand something. I can't just bash or ban someone every time someone says something someone doesn't like. As long as they obey the rules, what should I do?
There is no guarantee that there won't be disagreements and/or hard feelings. Until we all go home, there is a possibility of these things happening. We all have to deal with our flesh guys, all of us. The question is, what will you do when you have to deal with your flesh? Will you throw up your hands and give up? Go searching for that "perfect" message board (no such thing)? Or will you deal with it, learn from it, and grow from it? Are you going to bail at the first sign of trouble or are you going to stand fast and wait out the storm? What's it gonna be?
This isn't a perfect world guys, I wish it were but it's not. I am doing the best I can to keep this board civil and light hearted. But I can't banish everyone who says something someone might disagree with. If they break the rules, then I will look at taking further measures. But I'm not going to ban someone or play referee on every issue because someone's offended. I just don't have time or will to do that. So if you don't like what's being said, are you going to stay out of the thread or bail completely? Are you going to break the fellowship we are trying to build here or reason with each other and do the best you can? Are you going to stand beside your brothers and sisters here or head for the mountains at first sight of trouble?
The choice is all of ours. How we deal with our flesh is up to us. I can't force anyone to stay, and I'm not going to do something the Spirit doesn't lead me to just to appease someone. I've been offended here too, but should I bail? Should I shut it down because my feelings were hurt? Should I start banning or disciplining everyone that I disagree with? Do you realize that we disagree with each other on at lease one issue?
So in closing, I hope that all of you will pray on this. And for those of you who have refused to log back on because you had your feelings hurt, why not come back home? If you need to move on, that's your decision and I'll pray you find a happy home elsewhere. But know this. There is no perfect message board out there, you'll never find it. You can either help build this one up and make it better, or bail and go from board to board just like in the past. The choice is yours.
God Bless
